Coconut Palm Sugar (Cultivated), Nature's Glory
Coconut Palm Sugar is a natural sweetener made from “Wild Coconut Palm” (Indonesian) coconut tree (Cocos Nucifera), as an alternative to cane sugar sweeteners or other artificial sweeteners.
“Wild Coconut Palm” is taken from the sap of palm tree nectar. The sap is then boiled (evaporated) until the moisture content below 5%. In the process of evaporation, NO additives like dyes and preservatives are added.
Taste is similar to light brown sugar with a tinge of light butterscotch and caramel flavour. Delicious!
Benefits: Coconut Palm Sugar is a low glycaemic natural sweetener that produces a slow release of energy without the highs and lows ordinary cane sugar. It is rated as GI 35, which is lower than other sweeteners such (agave GI 42, Honey GI 55 and cane sugar GI 68). This is beneficial for weight control and improving glucose and lipid levels in people with diabetes (type 1 and type 2).
Coconut Palm Sugar is also nutrient-rich, especially high in potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron, as well as being a good source of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and C.
