Organic honey is honey that is free from chemicals and pesticides. While not all natural honey is certified organic, here at Nature’s Glory we are committed to offering our customers the best quality organic honey from New Zealand. This is to preserve the natural properties of honey, such as its antioxidants and anti-microbial compounds, that can lower blood pressure, suppress coughs, promote wound healing, and reduce cholesterol and heart disease.
At Nature’s Glory, our honey is independently certified by AgriQuality NZ (now AsureQuality NZ) and the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA) for not using any chemicals or pesticides.
NASAA is one of the earliest organic certifying bodies in Australia and our products are independently audited by them. Our NASAA Certificate number is 8131P, and our honey production is strictly audited from harvest to bottling and until it is finally sold.
Our iFOAM certification also ensures the fair and orderly trade of organic products as certified by the AgriQuality NZ (now AsureQuality NZ) in New Zealand. Both certifications signify that we are committed to high international organic standards and customers should feel at ease when it comes to consuming our organic honeys.
Furthermore, most of our honey is harvested from flowers like Clover and Blue Borage, which grow in alpine regions with rich soil and fresh air. Our honey also doesn’t use any added heat pasteurisation or irradiation, allowing it to stay pure and preserve all its beneficial nutrients. We also do not use sugar to feed the bees to produce more honey, which is a common practice in the industry.
Other brands of honey are mostly not organically certified and may contain other artificial colours and flavourings like cane sugar and syrup to adulterate the honey.
Why Certified Organic Honey is important
Due to lack of enforcement, the word “organic” is very loosely used in these regions.
Even without independent certifications and audits quite a number have claimed to be organic!
Our products are independently audited by NASAA, Australia and AgriQuality, New Zealand (now AsureQuality NZ).
Every step of honey harvesting, collection, storage, packaging, transport is being audited.
Chemicals are not allowed any of the processes including during storage. Tests are randomly conducted to check for pesticides and antibiotics.
Even the total amount of honey bought and sold are also being audited every year. This assures that only organic honey is sold and not mixed with cheaper honeys, as has occurred previously in Australia and other parts of the world.
How to differentiate REAL CERTIFIED ORGANIC Honey and FAKE ORGANIC Honey?
Look out for the NASAA logo and our certification number (8131P) for the validity of our certification. Verify the certification on www.nasaa.com.au. The name of the company and the certification number must match. The dates on organic certificates should also be valid.
Proper certification assures that you are getting real, certified organic honey.
