Kudzu Powder
Kudzu powder is made from the Kudzu leguminous plant that grows wild in the mountains. and is used as a thickener in gravies, soups and sauces. It is also used in Asian medicine to treat colds, fevers, high blood pressure and relieve stress and insomnia. The Japanese also use it to add sweetness and gluten to dishes
Kudzu is used for various dishes besides Japanese sweets, especially to add sweetness and gluten to soup, mousse, jelly, and steamed dishes.
Psyllium Husk
Made from the Plantago Ovata plant, psyllium husk is the cleaned dried seed coat (epidermis) which has been separated from the seeds. It helps in the lowering of cholesterol, and aids in constipation, prevent diarrhoea, diverticulitis and other intestinal problems.
When Psyllium husk comes in contact with water, it swells and forms a gelatinous mass that stimulates the transport of waste through the intestinal tract, helping with constipation issues. To try, take 2 teaspoons of psyllium husk with 1 teaspoon of Nature's glory Ume paste, and stir into a large glass of water to drink.
Renkon Dried Lotus Root
Used for macrobiotic cooking, lotus root is excellent against colds, asthma, kidney trouble and lungs. It is a good source of vitamin B, vitamin C, iron, potassium, copper, thiamin, and zinc, protein and dietary fibre. It is often used in herbal soups and stews for added goodness and health.
